A New York City skyline on a sunny day guides us to a beautiful sustainably designed home that emerges from underground. One-quarter of the house is cantilevering over the sloped entrance to the garage and main entrance. The cuts to the shipping containers were all done off-site. Then the shipping containers took their final journey to become a home in NYC.
Each of the eighteen shipping containers was shipped one at a time. Once the containers were at the site, the building was fully assembled in only three days. After cutting the containers diagonally, the cut pieces were used to complete the rooftop decks.
Giuseppe Lignano and Ada Tolla are the founders of LOT-EK Architectural and Design. They created the sustainably designed home for a family of four. The family sold it three years before the video production. Both Ada and Giuseppe appeared to appreciate the design and artistic choices the new owner has made. The home has an amazing outdoor area, the last wood-burning fireplace permitted in NYC, and an amazing home theater.
