Mark Zuckerberg Discusses Orion AR Glasses And Future Tech

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sits down with The Verge deputy editor Alex Heath to discuss the new Orion AR glasses, Meta’s partnership with Ray-Ban, Augmented Reality as a platform, and more. While discussing design and platform, Alex Heath says, “True AR glasses are finally getting closer.”

The Orion AR glasses weigh under 100 grams with a 70-degree field-of-view and two hours of useable battery life. Zuckerberg says that he hopes the current Orion AR glasses will bring in developers as Meta continues to make moves to turn Orion AR glasses into a powerful, tech-integrated consumer product.

I hope Zuckerberg releases some of the current Orion AR glasses to content creators to test functionality. This could minimize distractions and screen garbage while elevating consumer-prioritized functions. Smooth integration, minimal distraction, and efficient tools (like spell check, grammar, notes, etc.) would be key for me. The Orion AR glasses could easily be part of my morning coffee, research, and writing routine and I can see them becoming a nearly universal, daily tool.
