Tesla Optimus Gen 2 features Tesla-designed actuators and sensors, with faster and more capable hands, faster walking, decreased weight, articulated neck, and much more.
Tesla robotics has come a long way since revealing the Bumblebee in September 2022. With the Tesla robots renamed Optimus, we saw the Optimus Gen 1 in March 2023, and near the beginning of 2025, the Optimus Gen 2 was revealed.
Tesla stated its mission to create a general-purpose, bi-pedal, autonomous humanoid robot capable of performing unsafe, and rote tasks. Beyond the robotics engineer development, Tesla is building software stacks that enable balance, navigation, perception, and interaction with the physical world. Tesla is also ramping up staff and hiring deep learning, computer vision, motion planning, controls, mechanical, and general software engineers to solve some of our hardest engineering challenges.
