Chrysler was once associated with luxury vehicles and was one of the most recognizable brands in the American automotive industry. After bankruptcy and mergers, some fear the brand is facing extinction. CEO Christine Feuell tells CNBC that Chrysler is here to stay and will have more vehicles soon.
In 1980, Chrysler nearly went bankrupt and did in 2009. Chrysler has been owned by a private equity firm, Mercedes Benz, and Italian maker Fiat, then merged with French maker Groupe PSA as part of Stellantis. After a record year of profits in 2023, the dealers that sell the North American brands sent an open letter severely criticizing management. Soon after, CEO Carlos Tavares resigned.
